This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Analyze microbiome datasets, encompassing taxa abundances, diversity metrics, and functional genes, to aid in addressing research questions.
• Create and sustain innovative microbiome metrics and biomarkers utilizing statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Perform statistical evaluations of longitudinal clinical data.
• Develop data visualizations, reports, and presentations for stakeholders and academic publications.
• Compose research protocols, statistical analysis plans, and clinical study reports.
• Operate independently across multiple projects in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
• Assist in the creation of new product and study ideas.
• Contribute to scientific publications, proposals, and internal knowledge dissemination.
• Collaborate closely with microbiome specialists and report to the Head of Science.
• Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline such as data science, computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, or microbiology is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of full-time relevant experience post-Master’s, or 0–1 years of relevant experience post-PhD.
• Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and data visualization.
• Proficiency in R and/or Python.
• Experience with SQL and handling large datasets is preferred.
• Prior experience in microbiome data analysis, including 16S or shotgun metagenomics, is highly desirable.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in a remote-first environment.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced startup setting is preferred.
• Experience in DTC health/wellness companies is preferred.
• Familiarity with remote work and proficiency in Slack is preferred.
• Ability to utilize AI in daily tasks while being aware of its limitations.
• Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
