MFLC Counselor – Short Term Coverage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.

📋 Description

• Provide in-person counseling to military Service Members and their families, encompassing individual, couples, family, and children’s counseling.

• Deliver counseling, consultation, outreach, coaching, guidance, and support to eligible Service Members, family members, children, youth, parents, staff, and faculty.

• Offer preventative, solution-focused counseling that addresses relationship issues, stress management, parenting challenges, child behavioral concerns, relocations, deployments, financial worries, and job-related stress.

• Recommend suitable referrals and transitions to military and community resources based on varying clinical skills.

• Conduct presentations focused on social skills development and social-emotional learning.

• Establish rapport with Service Members, spouses, and children by participating in installation and community events.

• Assist military families and children during transitions, frequent relocations, separations, deployments, and reunifications.

• Observe, engage, and participate in activities with children and youth.

• Demonstrate behavior management techniques for staff and parents.

• Act as a trained, assignment-ready Mission Ready Reserve counselor when required.


⛳️ Requirements

• A master’s degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).

• Licensure for independent practice (LCSW, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist) in a U.S. state or territory.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Ability to pass a basic background check for employment.

• Must clear a National/Child National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI/CNACI), commonly known as a Public Trust clearance.

• SOCOM positions require a minimum of a Secret (T3) clearance.

• Capability to provide counseling support to adults or minors.

• Willingness to work flexible, PRN-type, Mission Ready Reserve assignments.

• Ability to operate in indoor and outdoor military installations, schools, and CDC environments.

• Capacity to navigate uneven grassy, gravel, and/or dirt surfaces, ascend/descend stairs, and adapt to varying weather conditions.

• Able to sit on the floor to interact with children for up to 2 hours at a time.
