Senior Genetic Counselor Assistant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee patient records and support healthcare teams in providing genetic counseling services.

• Conduct initial interviews with patients and gather comprehensive family histories.

• Accurately document relevant clinical data and input patient information into EHR systems promptly.

• Organize and manage patient files and test results efficiently.

• Ensure adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

• Support genetic counselors during patient consultations.

• Offer pertinent medical information and education throughout counseling sessions.

• Educate patients on genetic conditions, testing options, and potential outcomes under the guidance of genetic counselors.

• Provide emotional support to patients during counseling sessions as necessary.

• Prepare educational resources related to genetic conditions and testing options.

• Address patient inquiries with basic information regarding genetic testing and results.

• Arrange follow-up appointments and communicate test results effectively.

• Organize and oversee research projects.

• Recruit participants for clinical studies.

• Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for research initiatives.

• Coordinate educational workshops or outreach efforts.

• Collaborate with physicians, genetic counselors, and other healthcare professionals.

• Act as a liaison between the genetic counseling team and other departments.

• Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and accreditation standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Genetics, Biology, or a related discipline.

• Certification as a Genetic Counselor Assistant or relevant experience is preferred.

• At least 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare environment, ideally in genetic counseling or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of genetic terminology and basic genetic principles.

• Experience supporting genetic counseling sessions.

• Familiarity with handling patient information in accordance with privacy regulations.

• Comprehensive understanding of genetics and genetic conditions.

• Capability to discuss genetic testing options and outcomes.

• Proficient in communicating complex information clearly, concisely, and with empathy.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Ability to manage intricate patient data with accuracy.

• Compassionate and empathetic demeanor when interacting with patients.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals.

• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare-related software tools.

• Strong grasp of privacy regulations, including HIPAA.

• Commitment to safeguarding patient confidentiality.

• Frequently able to sit, stand, and utilize hand and finger dexterity.

• Occasional capability to lift office supplies or materials.
