This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop the runtime that executes compiled models on the machine, encompassing dispatch, data movement, and result readback.
• Ensure that a single runtime is capable of targeting both the simulated system model and actual silicon, allowing programs to run on either without modifications.
• Design and implement bare-metal firmware on the on-device embedded processor, addressing model execution, scheduling, device sequencing, and calibration.
• Create and maintain drivers on both sides of the host/device boundary as well as the protocols facilitating their interaction.
• Develop the host-side hardware abstraction layer and ensure compatibility when firmware and host software are released independently.
• Lead the post-silicon software bring-up in collaboration with the Hardware team.
• Manage the software that controls test chips, closing the loop between observed hardware behavior and simulation models.
• Work alongside AI, System Modeling, and Hardware teams, as well as initial customers, to deploy and maintain prototype hardware as the platform scales.
• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 7 years of professional experience in embedded firmware, driver development, or systems software closely related to hardware.
• Experience with at least one bring-up of new or prototype silicon and hardware, progressing from power-on to executing real workloads.
• Proficiency in C/C++ on embedded processors, including knowledge of interrupts, DMA, memory-mapped register access, and boot and flash sequences.
• Experience in developing Linux drivers in either kernel or user space.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following: PCIe, USB, UART, or SPI.
• Experience in designing resilient protocols over unreliable physical links.
• Strong skills in Python programming alongside C/C++.
• Adherence to versioning protocols is necessary when firmware, drivers, and host software are released independently.
• Capability to identify, triage, and resolve anomalies across silicon, boards, firmware, and software.
• Ability to correlate measured behavior with simulation models.
• Exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to diverse teams across the entire stack from algorithms to circuits.
• Comprehensive health benefits.
• 401k matching program.
• Truly unlimited paid time off (PTO).
• Complimentary meals available in the Mountain View office.
• Significant ownership and a substantial opportunity to influence change.
