Medical Science Liaison – Senior – COVID, Virology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a representative of Shionogi Inc. and its products to key opinion leaders, clinicians, institutions, and professional organizations.

• Cultivate and manage relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals through valuable scientific dialogue.

• Address unsolicited inquiries regarding marketed and developing products.

• Facilitate scientific discussions concerning disease states and product applications, supporting therapeutic concepts and the safe, effective use of products.

• Provide strategic insights to company management regarding therapeutic-area dynamics, business development, and KOL feedback.

• Collaborate across functions on clinical and scientific issues.

• Build and sustain relationships with KOLs, HCPs, academic entities, payors, and patient advocacy groups.

• Create and implement plans for the designated MSL region in alignment with medical strategy and KOL objectives.

• Identify pertinent HCPs based on the medical strategy and patient requirements.

• Document unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries and coordinate with investigators on research proposals initiated by them.

• Prepare and present fair-balanced clinical and scientific presentations, subject to medical review committee approval.

• Identify and train speakers for advisory boards, symposiums, and educational initiatives.

• Participate in national and regional medical/scientific conferences, engage with attendees, attend scientific sessions, gather insights, and summarize findings.

• Analyze competitor research and therapeutic-area intelligence; evaluate findings and communicate insights to internal stakeholders.

• Work in collaboration with Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, and other internal teams.

• Provide disease-state, clinical, and scientific training to various functional teams.

• Offer management insights on therapeutic and research developments, business opportunities and risks, along with KOL feedback.

• Stay informed about medical, clinical, regulatory, compliance, and quality processes.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation including reports, expense reports, training, KOL records, conference summaries, and other required documentation.

• Analyze operational data to identify trends and root causes, and develop and monitor KPIs and metrics.

• Design and ensure the execution of training programs.

• Promote cross-functional alignment and achieve operational goals.

• Lead change management initiatives and process enhancements.

• Evaluate industry best practices and pinpoint opportunities to improve medical impact and operational efficiency.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctoral-level degree in a life sciences program with a strong foundation in scientific knowledge is highly preferred.

• A postgraduate degree in virology, infectious diseases, epidemiology, or related fields is considered advantageous.

• Required previous MSL experience in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical sector; preference given to those with experience in respiratory infectious diseases and COVID-19.

• At least 5 years of MSL experience may be taken into account for a Senior MSL position.

• Experience in the outpatient medical community, including pre- and post-launch product approval activities, is preferred.

• Clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in infectious or respiratory diseases is preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry and business strategies is essential.

• Knowledge of current regulatory guidelines pertaining to scientific interactions, unsolicited questions, clinical trials, and research is required.

• Ethical and professional conduct in alignment with company guidelines and regulatory standards.

• Capability to establish and maintain relationships with healthcare providers and industry stakeholders.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal colleagues and external organizations across various levels and roles.

• Proficient in communicating and presenting scientific and medical information to diverse audiences.

• Competence in managing multiple projects and initiatives while organizing, communicating, and prioritizing work effectively.

• Strategic mindset and innovative problem-solving capabilities.

• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and video conferencing tools.

• Flexibility and adaptability to evolving healthcare environments and organizational demands.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time.

• Must reside within the assigned geographic territory and within a reasonable distance to a major airport.

• Safe driving capability.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

• Must possess the valid licenses and credentials necessary to perform the role.
