This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Analyze and report drug testing results for DOT, federal, and non-DOT clients in compliance with relevant statutes, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Examine documentation for inaccuracies and conduct interviews with donors who have non-negative results via phone.
• Assess whether valid medical reasons exist for non-negative laboratory findings.
• Modify or cancel drug tests when warranted.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of the testing procedure.
• Offer constructive feedback to laboratory and collection site representatives regarding performance issues.
• Perform quarterly audits of DOT-negative Custody and Control Forms.
• Communicate with clients and tested individuals about problematic cases.
• Consult with federal agency representatives on reviewed cases and provide necessary information.
• Deliver expert-witness testimony as needed.
• Review and approve administrative documents that require MRO evaluation.
• Collaborate closely with the Chief MRO and MRO support staff to ensure the accuracy and integrity of medical reviews.
• Propose process enhancements, discuss potential product functionalities and improvements, and provide input on updates to procedures.
• Stay informed about relevant federal, DOT, and state laws, regulations, MRO manual updates, technological advancements, and best practices in MRO.
• Candidates must reside in Mexico and possess authorization to work in Mexico.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) qualification is required.
• Current Medical Review Officer (AAMRO) certification is necessary.
• A valid license to practice medicine in the United States or Canada is required.
• A minimum of 1 to 3 years of medical training and/or experience in interpreting and evaluating drug test results is mandatory.
• Understanding of issues related to adulterated, substituted, and invalid specimens is essential.
• Familiarity with downgrading and cancellation procedures for tests is required.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines for MROs and applicable DOT agency regulations is essential.
• Understanding of collection processes, as well as laboratory practices and protocols is necessary.
• Awareness of alternative medical explanations for positive drug test results is required.
• Must be available to take calls during scheduled hours, currently from 8am to 7pm CST.
• A commitment of 20 hours per week is required, with the potential to work additional hours up to 30 hours per week.
• ABAM Certification in Addiction Medicine is preferred.
• Completion of the ASAM Review Course in Addiction Medicine is preferred.
• 1 to 3 years of experience as an MRO is preferred.
• Documented experience providing expert witness testimony is preferred.
