Medical Insurance Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Contact insurance companies to verify claim statuses, reprocess claims, and submit appeals.

• Review aging reports and tackle outstanding or denied claims.

• Recognize patterns in insurance denials and escalate them as necessary.

• Ensure that all account activities and claim communications comply with HIPAA regulations.

• Accurately document every interaction with clients and accounts.

• Process payments and ensure appropriate balance distribution across accounts.

• Modify and resubmit claims to both primary and secondary payers.

• Engage in phone rotations to assist with incoming billing inquiries.

• Collaborate with clinical and administrative personnel to resolve claim-related challenges.

• Maintain close communication with colleagues and leadership through digital platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the healthcare sector.

• At least 1 year of experience in medical billing and insurance claim processing.

• Knowledge of CMS1500, COB, PHI, and other medical billing terminology.

• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a remote setting.

• Proficient in using payer websites for claim status and eligibility inquiries.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems is preferred.

• Previous billing experience in a specialty practice (e.g., cardiology) is preferred.

• Applicants must reside in Washington State.
