Hospital Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee claims processing, manage accounts receivable, and ensure documentation adheres to payer guidelines and OCHIN systems.

• Examine and address claim denials, recognize trends, and participate in process enhancements that improve reimbursement results.

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to clarify billing requirements.

• Monitor deadlines and organize billing activities to ensure timely and efficient task execution.

• Utilize knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system and OCHIN solutions in billing operations.

• Deliver revenue cycle and account management services to OBS member clients, primarily focusing on Acute Care.

• Handle self-pay accounts and customer inquiries or manage daily claims production, which includes printing, mailing, and preparing clean-claim documentation.

• Offer billing and customer service assistance to OBS member clinics and their patients.

• Travel nationally for on-site Go Live support as per business needs.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in rural hospitals is essential for work related to Acute Care hospitals.

• Proficiency in Epic is highly preferred.

• Experience in provider-based, inpatient, surgery, or emergency room billing is strongly preferred.

• Critical Access Hospital Billing experience is highly desirable.

• Previous experience in billing and/or coding within the revenue cycle is preferred.

• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, Workers Comp, and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes is preferred.

• Understanding of legal requirements is preferred.

• Experience and knowledge of FQHC/RHC are preferred.

• Medical Billing Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is preferred.

• Completion of a 50–60-minute competency assessment is required prior to the team interview.

• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a home office setting.

• High-speed internet service is necessary.

• Capacity to maintain a distraction-free workplace.

• Proficient in reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.

• Ability to be on camera for all virtual meetings.

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption is required as a condition of employment.
