Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Process claims, oversee accounts receivable, and uphold documentation according to payer guidelines and OCHIN systems.

• Investigate and resolve claim denials, recognize trends, and contribute to process enhancements that improve reimbursement outcomes.

• Deliver revenue cycle and account management services to OBS member clients.

• Assist member clinics and patients with billing inquiries and customer service.

• Manage self-pay accounts and address customer inquiries.

• Handle daily claims production, including printing, mailing, and preparing documentation for seamless claim submissions.

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to clarify billing requirements.

• Monitor deadlines and organize billing activities utilizing OCHIN tools and processes.

• Leverage knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system and OCHIN solutions to enhance billing operations.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in rural hospital settings is essential.

• Proficiency in Epic is highly preferred.

• Experience in provider-based, inpatient, surgery, or emergency room billing is highly preferred.

• Critical Access Hospital Billing experience is highly preferred.

• Experience in billing and/or coding within the revenue cycle is preferred.

• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, Workers Comp, and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes is preferred.

• Knowledge of legal requirements is preferred.

• Experience and knowledge of FQHC/RHC is preferred.

• Medical Billing Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is preferred.

• Completion of a 50–60-minute competency assessment prior to the team interview is required.

• Capability to work independently and efficiently from a home office setting.

• High-speed internet service is required.

• Ability to maintain a distraction-free work environment.

• Travel may be required up to 20% nationally for on-site Go Live support based on business needs.

• Proficiency in reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.

• Ability to appear on camera for all virtual meetings.

• Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide an approved medical or religious exemption prior to hire.
