Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate patient medical records along with relevant documentation.

• Input necessary data elements into the billing system, such as ICD-9 codes, charges, and billing narratives.

• Execute tasks in accordance with Quick Med Claims policies as well as state and federal regulations.

• Achieve or surpass established productivity benchmarks.

• Accurately document reviewed accounts.

• Attach required documentation within the system or to paper 1500 forms.

• Gather additional information from clients, including HIPAA forms, insurance pre-authorizations, and physician medical necessity forms to facilitate third-party claims submissions.

• Assess billing documents based on dates from patient care reports, physician medical necessity forms, and hospital face sheets.

• Review and confirm claims both electronically and on paper.

• Track tags or workflows to ensure timely validation of claims.

• Process insurance claim forms in compliance with federal and state laws as well as departmental procedures.

• Deliver accurate billing that adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

• Attain and sustain billing accuracy scores throughout quality assurance and auditing processes.

• Comply with HIPAA privacy regulations and safeguard sensitive patient information.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• 1–2 years of medical billing experience preferred.

• Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) certification is preferred.

• Proven ability or willingness to secure QMC Biller Certification upon hire.

• Must be capable of typing at least 35 words per minute.

• Basic computer skills are necessary, including the ability to work with multiple windows and programs at once.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Adequate written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

• Ability to function with minimal supervision.

• Competence in independently managing all facets of the job role, including required objectives and business practices, in a remote setting.
