This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Select and arrange ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for specified patient categories, which include physician professional fees, technical fees, evaluation and management, hospital, clinic, ancillary, and recurring services.
β’ Examine and evaluate facility records to ensure that APC assignments and/or evaluation and management codes accurately correspond with documented diagnoses and procedures.
β’ Abstract clinical information post-documentation review to validate diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition.
β’ Execute assigned tasks utilizing the appropriate resources.
β’ Serve as a resource for client personnel regarding data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider inquiries.
β’ Uphold strict patient and provider confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
β’ Engage in client and Savista staff meetings, training sessions, and conference calls.
β’ Keep abreast of current ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, coding guidelines, governmental regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements.
β’ Partake in continuing education initiatives to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain up-to-date credentials.
β’ Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.
β’ An active AHIMA credential such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or an active AAPC credential like COC (formerly CPC-H), CCS-P, CPC, or a related specialty credential is required.
β’ Minimum of two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience is necessary.
β’ Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, as well as ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS code sets is essential.
β’ Ability to consistently achieve a coding accuracy of 95% while adhering to client-specific and/or Savista production and/or quality standards.
β’ Competent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel; capability to enter data and sort and filter Excel files.
β’ Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills when interacting with internal and external customers.
β’ Recent and relevant experience in a production coding environment is strongly preferred.
β’ An associate degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or a healthcare-related field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with Rcx, Cerner, or NextGen is a plus.
