This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +43 more states.
β’ Analyze and interpret medical data, including physician treatment plans, courses of care, and outcomes to accurately assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
β’ Extract data elements to fulfill statistical requests from the hospital, health system, medical staff, and other parties, while inputting coded and abstracted information into the appropriate system.
β’ Ensure effective management of medical information and cash flow related to the unbilled coding report.
β’ Stay updated on changes and revisions in ICD-10-CM/CPT guidelines through continual education, coding clinics, and other resources, integrating updates into daily practices.
β’ Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned or required.
β’ Safeguard protected information, cardholder data, and confidential customer details.
β’ High School diploma or GED.
β’ Successful completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
β’ Minimum of 1 year of experience in Hospital and/or Physician Coding.
β’ At least 1 year of coding experience at mid-level facilities or clinics.
β’ A minimum of 1 year coding major surgeries, observations, and/or E/Ms.
β’ Proficient in Medical Terminology.
β’ Strong data entry capabilities.
β’ Familiarity with computer applications.
β’ Ability to collaborate effectively with members of the healthcare team.
β’ Possession of any of the following certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Associate (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or CPC-A Certified Professional Coder - Apprentice.
β’ Preferred: Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
