This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Generate comprehensive estimates for commercial ventilation, ductwork, and extensive mechanical-services projects.
• Examine mechanical blueprints, specifications, schedules, tender documents, and other project-related information.
• Perform quantity take-offs for labor, materials, equipment, and mechanical components.
• Analyze proposed mechanical designs to establish practical installation delivery methods.
• Compute labor hours, material quantities, equipment needs, access requirements, subcontracted works, and additional costs.
• Acquire and assess quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Implement labor rates, productivity allowances, material costs, and commercial considerations.
• Create estimates for review and approval by the Project Manager.
• Update estimates in response to design alterations, new information, or feedback.
• Keep accurate records of estimates, take-offs, quotations, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
• Aid in transferring successful estimates to Project Managers.
• Evaluate drawings and project details for constructability, completeness, and technical consistency.
• Recognize installation challenges, access needs, sequencing problems, and coordination risks.
• Raise technical questions regarding omissions, discrepancies, and unclear project scopes.
• Ensure estimates comply with UK regulations, client standards, and accepted industry practices.
• Collaborate closely with six Project Managers regarding scope, technical specifications, client expectations, and turnaround times.
• Handle multiple estimating requests while ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Cultivate an understanding of clients, sites, commercial expectations, and delivery methods.
• Assist Project Managers by minimizing routine estimating and take-off tasks.
• Function as an integrated remote team member.
• Identify omissions, underpricing risks, and potential cost exposures.
• Balance competitive pricing with project profitability.
• Contribute to the development of estimating templates, cost databases, and internal pricing processes.
• Utilize project feedback to enhance the accuracy of future estimates.
• Securely and confidentially manage sensitive drawings, specifications, and commercial information.
• Adhere to document control, data security, and restricted information protocols.
• Incorporate enhanced security, vetting, and compliance requirements into estimates.
• Maintain discretion with government, transport, defense-related, and security-sensitive information.
• Comply with background screening, confidentiality, and project-specific security protocols.
• Carry out other role-specific duties as needed.
• Prior experience in the UK industry, including knowledge of UK project documentation, working practices, and regulatory obligations.
• A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, HVAC, Ventilation, Plumbing, or a closely related field.
• Background in commercial ventilation and ductwork systems within government buildings, major retail or warehouse facilities, rail infrastructure, or large transport stations.
• Solid grounding in mechanical engineering, mechanical building services, or a mechanically trained trade background.
• Experience in conducting detailed quantity take-offs from mechanical drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Proficiency in accurately calculating labor, materials, equipment, access, and other project requirements.
• Experience in reviewing mechanical designs and evaluating constructability and installation methods.
• Ability to identify incomplete information, technical inconsistencies, scope gaps, and pricing risks.
• Experience in pricing large and technically complex commercial projects.
• Capability to manage multiple estimates and collaborate effectively with several Project Managers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Confidence in posing technical questions and clearly conveying estimating assumptions and concerns.
• Strong numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to precision.
• Exceptional organizational, document control, and deadline management skills.
• Ability to work independently while remaining closely connected with a UK-based team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant take-off, estimating, and document review software.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when managing commercially or operationally sensitive information.
• Experience with projects delivered for Tier 1 contractors, facilities management organizations, schools, or MOD sites.
• Familiarity with established clients and the application of account-specific pricing, standards, and turnaround expectations.
• Experience in obtaining and commercially evaluating UK supplier and subcontractor quotations.
