This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +4 more states.
β’ Design, review, and provide support for industrial refrigeration systems utilizing ammonia, CO2, and Freon refrigerants.
β’ Develop and uphold engineering standards, specifications, and documentation for systems.
β’ Assess system performance and suggest enhancements for safety, reliability, and efficiency.
β’ Offer troubleshooting assistance and conduct root cause analysis.
β’ Collaborate with Design and Construction teams to define company design standards.
β’ Assist with Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Programs (RMP), Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change (MOCs), mechanical integrity initiatives, compliance audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
β’ Deliver engineering assistance for refrigeration capital projects, including expansions, retrofitting, commissioning, startup, and system acceptance.
β’ Review designs from contractors and consultants, providing technical input on equipment selection and vendor assessments.
β’ Formulate maintenance strategies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operational guidelines in collaboration with Facilities and Maintenance teams.
β’ Offer field engineering support during outages, maintenance, and emergency situations.
β’ Supervise contractors and ensure safe execution of technical tasks.
β’ Analyze system performance to pinpoint reliability risks, capacity limitations, and opportunities for energy optimization.
β’ Aid in lifecycle asset planning, condition evaluations, replacement suggestions, modernization, and automation projects.
β’ Maintain P&IDs, equipment records, calculations, and technical documents.
β’ Participate in enterprise knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
β’ Work in partnership with Operations, Facilities, Maintenance, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Asset Management, Capital Engineering, contractors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), suppliers, regulators, auditors, and consultants.
β’ At least 5 years of experience in industrial refrigeration.
β’ Practical experience with ammonia (NHβ) refrigeration systems.
β’ Familiarity with Freon-based systems.
β’ Proficiency in industrial ammonia and Freon refrigeration engineering, refrigeration thermodynamics, and mechanical system design.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) compliance standards.
β’ Experience in troubleshooting systems, conducting root cause analysis, and solving operational issues in industrial refrigeration settings.
β’ Experience in supporting capital projects, upgrades, expansions, commissioning, and equipment optimization.
β’ Skilled in interpreting and creating P&IDs, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
β’ Knowledge of asset reliability, preventive maintenance strategies, and energy optimization techniques.
β’ Familiarity with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations.
β’ Willingness to travel to operational sites as required.
β’ Anticipated travel of over 25% during the initial years.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
β’ Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation.
β’ Understanding of IIAR and ASHRAE guidelines.
β’ EPA Section 608 Certification.
β’ Preferred experience in food distribution, cold storage, manufacturing, or logistics sectors.
β’ Preferred experience in supporting multi-site operations.
β’ Preferred familiarity with AutoCAD verification and updates.
