This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Create mechanical, thermal, and plastic components, such as structures, radiators, housings, and ducts.
• Conduct thermal, structural, and fatigue analyses to ensure the integrity of components.
• Enhance designs for weight reduction, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability through DFM/DFA principles.
• Produce 2D/3D technical drawings and documentation, including BOM and GD&T specifications.
• Confirm designs through physical testing, which includes load, vibration, and corrosion assessments.
• Integrate mechanical, thermal, and electrical systems to guarantee overall functionality.
• Work collaboratively with CAE, EE, and manufacturing teams to ensure design alignment with project specifications.
• Maintain compliance with safety and industry standards including UL, IEC, and ASME.
• Participate in the development of an Iron Air Battery, a large-scale energy storage solution.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering, or related disciplines.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with the Google Suite.
• Understanding of thermal system design (e.g., radiators, cooling systems, heat dissipation).
• Knowledge of thermal safety standards (e.g., UL 94, IEC 60695).
• Experience with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) for structural and fatigue analyses.
• Proficient in GD&T and DFM/DFA methodologies.
• Capability to create 2D/3D technical drawings and BOM.
• Knowledge of plastic materials (e.g., polypropylene, ABS, PEEK) and their properties.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, thermoforming).
• Familiarity with wiring standards (e.g., IPC-A-620).
• Ability to design cable routing and harness systems.
• Proficient in English at level B2–C1.
• Preferred: experience in energy storage systems and large-scale mechanical or industrial projects.
• Preferred: proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
• Preferred: experience with PLM systems such as TeamCenter or Windchill.
• Preferred: understanding of safety and industry standards such as NFPA 69, IEC 62485, ASME, ISO.
• Preferred: experience with certification processes such as UL, IEC, CE.
• Preferred: experience in design optimization and sustainable design practices.
• Preferred: comprehension of advanced manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing and CNC machining.
• Preferred: knowledge of material selection for extreme environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
• Capable of providing technical leadership and making informed decisions.
• Proficient in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
