Mechanical Engineer – Fleet Reliability and Operations, Hydroelectric Industry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in the rehabilitation of Hydro Turbines and Generators as well as new projects, encompassing service, warranty, and project completion.

• Provide engineering assistance for on-site activities.

• Conduct site assessments to evaluate the condition of existing turbines and/or generators.

• Oversee signature testing prior to unit disassembly at the site.

• Conduct daily calls with site teams to address inquiries and foresee potential issues.

• Suggest additional tasks following the dismantling and inspection of current components.

• Review and authorize site record sheets.

• Address non-conformities and general concerns.

• Perform site visits during crucial project phases.

• Assist in commissioning and testing processes.

• Resolve issues that arise during the warranty phase.

• Provide feedback based on experience to the design team.

• Act as the primary site liaison for operation and maintenance contracts.

• Design and create associated documentation for service projects.

• Aid customers with condition assessments, spare parts, part refurbishment, and partial unit refurbishment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in the hydro industry.

• Willingness and ability to travel within North America and internationally.

• Capability to work remotely within a team and communicate effectively.

• Must comply with pre-employment screenings, including reference checks and background verification.

• Must possess unrestricted work authorization in the USA.

• Familiarity with Hydro Turbine and Generator design and erection methods.

• Knowledge of calculation techniques related to material strength, finite element simulation, metallurgy, and welding processes.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
