Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Manage projects independently, regardless of their complexity.

• Coordinate and enhance project designs.

• Design and supervise projects involving intricate metal building systems.

• Ensure adherence to structural codes, customer specifications, manufacturing standards, and company policies.

• Collaborate with customers to develop optimized building solutions.

• Offer technical expertise and professional oversight for projects that necessitate signature and seal.

• Take on supervisory duties in the absence of the Engineering Manager.

• Oversee project timelines, manage shifting priorities, and accommodate last-minute changes.

• Utilize sound engineering judgment to safeguard public safety.

• Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers.

• Identify opportunities for design enhancements and cost reductions.

• Promote productivity improvements while ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must hold a Professional Engineer license (PE or SE).

• Preference for Licensed Professional Engineers in multiple states.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in metal building design or structural engineering.

• Demonstrated ability to design metal buildings ranging from medium to high complexity.

• Proficient in structural design and modeling software such as RISA, STAAD, AutoCAD, or similar tools.

• Expertise in all methodologies related to metal building system design, including advanced framing systems, custom configurations, and non-standard structural solutions.

• Capability to provide sealed design documents when necessary.

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
