This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Utilize hands-on mechanical engineering expertise to tackle technically challenging tasks related to real physical systems and products.
• Assess and critique mechanical designs, engineering analyses, simulation outcomes, testing methodologies, and troubleshooting strategies.
• Evaluate trade-offs concerning structures, materials, thermal performance, mechanical design, dynamics, vibration, controls, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Determine the technical validity and practical feasibility of engineering solutions.
• Identify flawed assumptions, unrealistic boundary conditions, design issues, failure modes, and risks associated with implementation or reliability.
• Create or review engineering problems, reference solutions, evaluation criteria, and technical documentation.
• Leverage practical experience in design, simulation, prototyping, hardware integration, testing, validation, qualification, debugging, and manufacturing.
• Provide articulate technical feedback rooted in engineering knowledge and established principles.
• Contribute to projects that enhance how AI systems understand mechanical design, analysis, testing, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Collaborate remotely with engineers and researchers on cutting-edge hardware engineering and AI research initiatives.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of recent, hands-on involvement in hardware development, analysis, testing, validation, integration, or troubleshooting.
• Experience as the lead engineer for actual hardware or physical systems, managing significant aspects of the engineering lifecycle.
• Profound technical knowledge in at least one core domain: structural/stress analysis and FEA; thermal analysis, heat transfer, and thermal management; mechanical design and product development; or dynamics, vibration, mechanisms, and controls.
• Strong practical understanding of materials, loads and boundary conditions, structural margins, fatigue, thermal limitations, tolerances/GD&T, component selection, reliability, manufacturability, system integration, and engineering failure-mode analysis.
• Extensive hands-on experience in analyzing, testing, debugging, and validating physical hardware.
• Familiarity with pertinent engineering tools such as CAD/CAE, FEA, CFD/thermal simulation, dynamic or controls simulation, test instrumentation, data acquisition, and structured root-cause analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in developing hardware within real-world product or manufacturing settings.
• Background in hardware-centric industries such as aerospace/defense, space, automotive/EV, semiconductors, consumer electronics, robotics/eVTOL, industrial/energy, or medical devices.
• Capability to clearly articulate technical decisions, design trade-offs, test outcomes, and failure mechanisms.
