Senior Software Engineer, Design Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and develop workflows that leverage AI tools like Claude Code and Figma MCP.

• Transition projects between Figma, prototypes, and the production frontend codebase.

• Collaborate with Product Design on patterns, components, and workflow processes.

• Advance Thumbprint, Thumbtack’s design system, by creating machine-readable documentation and component metadata that is compatible with MCP.

• Integrate Thumbprint with the prototyping platform.

• Collaborate with Developer Experience to establish foundations for AI agents and tools.

• Work alongside Frontend Infrastructure to enhance the web stack.

• Conduct office hours to collect feedback from engineers and designers.

• Prioritize and implement enhancements to the workflow from idea to production for product teams.

• Prototype and assess emerging AI development tools, providing recommendations for adoption and scaling at Thumbtack.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a frontend engineer developing production-level product interfaces.

• Ability to think systemically about tools, workflows, and platforms.

• Extensive hands-on proficiency with TypeScript and React.

• Familiarity with build, test, and deployment tools relevant to the modern web stack.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.

• Well-informed perspectives on the limitations, applications, and scalability of AI-assisted development tools.

• A history of creating tools and infrastructure that have been embraced by both engineers and non-engineers.

• Insight into onboarding, documentation, and feedback mechanisms that facilitate adoption.

• Strong collaborative skills with designers, product managers, and engineering partners.

• Over 6 years of professional experience in software engineering.
