Senior Software Engineer, Design Systems

📋 Description

• Create and implement AI-driven workflows utilizing tools like Claude Code and Figma MCP.

• Develop a two-way connection between Figma, prototypes, and production frontend code.

• Collaborate with Product Design on patterns, components, and workflows.

• Enhance Thumbprint with machine-readable documentation, MCP-compatible component metadata, and integration with prototyping platforms.

• Work alongside Developer Experience on AI agents and tooling, as well as with Frontend Infrastructure on the web stack.

• Conduct office hours, prioritize user feedback, and deliver enhancements to product development workflows.

• Prototype and assess emerging AI development tools, providing recommendations on what Thumbtack should adopt and scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a frontend engineer constructing production product interfaces.

• Ability to think systemically about tooling, workflows, platforms, and features.

• Extensive hands-on expertise with TypeScript, React, and associated build, test, and deployment tools.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.

• Informed perspectives on the limitations, applications, and scalability of AI-assisted development tools.

• History of building tools and infrastructure that are embraced by both engineers and non-engineers.

• Insightful judgment on onboarding, documentation, and feedback mechanisms that facilitate adoption.

• Strong collaboration skills with designers, product managers, and engineering teams.

• Over 6 years of professional experience in software engineering.
