Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Support the design, development, and associated mechanical engineering tasks across a range of projects.

• Create and model hardware components.

• Collaborate with fellow engineers to establish new products and guarantee that they meet or surpass customer expectations.

• Conduct hardware qualification testing for Proof of Concepts (POCs).

• Evaluate designs, execute tests, and carry out feasibility analyses of subsystems, assemblies, and components.

• Discover opportunities for enhancements in design, cost-efficiency, or time-to-market.

• Assess vendors in accordance with Spencer’s standards.

• Engage in process improvement initiatives.

• Develop manufacturing instructions and specifications.

• Ensure that hardware design activities align with Spencer’s Quality Management System.

• Assist with change management and project scheduling.

• Collaborate across various departments and take part in ongoing process enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

• Between 4 to 10 years of experience in designing and developing commercial or consumer products.

• Proficiency in drafting and modeling using parametric CAD software tools, with a preference for SolidWorks.

• Experience in creating prototypes and mockups with plastics, particularly in injection molding.

• Robust knowledge of hardware qualification testing for POCs.

• Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with innovative problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in a regulated environment.

• Capability to read, comprehend, and execute job responsibilities in line with Standard Operating Procedures.

• Direct experience working within FDA/EMA regulatory frameworks and medical-grade quality management systems is preferred.

• Familiarity with ISO 14971, IEC 62366, and IEC 60601 is preferred.
