Maritime IT Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Senegal.

📋 Description

• Execute field installations, upgrades, and commissioning of VSAT systems (C/Ku/Ka-band), Starlink, and L-band terminals (such as FleetBroadband and Iridium Certus).

• Carry out IT systems integration, including the setup of onboard LAN/WAN, IP networking, firewall configuration, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards.

• Deliver hands-on technical support for onboard IT systems, encompassing routers, switches, servers, Wi-Fi access points, and IoT maritime devices.

• Work in collaboration with NOC teams and remote engineering support to identify and resolve connectivity and system performance challenges.

• Conduct site surveys, compile service reports, prepare handover documentation, and generate technical documentation in line with Global Satcoms’ standards.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and client-specific requirements during onboard operations.

• Maintain ongoing communication with vessel agents, ship operators, and logistics teams to organize travel, tools, and spare parts for interventions.

• Provide customer training and onboard assistance during handover as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in field engineering or maritime IT support roles (minimum 2 years preferred).

• In-depth knowledge of maritime VSAT, L-band, and hybrid satellite systems.

• Strong grasp of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, and cybersecurity best practices.

• Familiarity with maritime regulations (IMO, ISPS) and the onboard IT landscape.

• Capability to interpret technical diagrams and system schematics.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service abilities.

• Proficiency in English; additional languages (such as Spanish, French, or Arabic) are advantageous.

• Current seafarer’s medical (ENG1 or equivalent).

• Readiness to travel internationally on short notice.
