This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the Manufacturing LAN planning portfolio and set priorities across new initiatives, plant expansions, modernization efforts, technology upgrades, and initiatives aimed at reducing operational risks.

• Guide and mentor LAN planners while collaborating with network engineering, wireless, cellular, cybersecurity, network operations, regional technology teams, and suppliers.

• Develop plans, establish milestones, track dependencies and risks, create escalation paths, and prepare executive reports.

• Oversee supplier performance, resource capacity, statements of work, purchase orders, financial tracking, and planning deliverables.

• Facilitate governance and planning forums to ensure alignment of initiatives with manufacturing and enterprise technology goals.

• Direct site assessments, requirements gathering, architecture reviews, documentation, bills of materials, implementation planning, change requests, trade coordination, and project handoff.

• Ensure the readiness of MDF and IDF, fiber and copper pathways, switching, wireless access points, power, space, environmental requirements, and operational prerequisites.

• Synchronize network readiness with construction timelines, production milestones, launch schedules, plant access, labor availability, and operational constraints.

• Establish criteria for installation and wireless coverage acceptance, validation, documentation updates, asset records, and operational transition.

• Provide leadership during plant launches, significant cutovers, technology refreshes, and production-sensitive network modifications.

• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Plant IT, Engineering, and Operations on connectivity for plant-floor applications and connected assets.

• Design network solutions for manufacturing equipment, material movement systems, vehicles, mobile devices, industrial endpoints, automation technologies, and emerging digital capabilities.

• Oversee indoor, outdoor, yard, and complex-area wireless requirements, including coverage maps, surveys, capacity, roaming, interference analysis, and device growth forecasts.

• Align technical designs with enterprise standards, security policies, and manufacturing operational requirements.

• Assess network changes for manufacturing risks, production impacts, rollback readiness, validation, operational ownership, and recovery strategies.

• Utilize data from incidents, changes, inventories, monitoring, capacity, and site readiness to prioritize remediation efforts.

• Assist in troubleshooting, responding to critical issues, recovering production, and conducting lessons learned sessions.

• Enhance planning standards, templates, automation, documentation quality, delivery consistency, risk management, supplier performance, and operational handoff processes.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.

• Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

• At least 2–3 years of experience in network engineering and deployment, covering planning, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and operational handoff of wired and wireless network infrastructures.

• Minimum of 2–3 years working in manufacturing facilities, industrial settings, plants, warehouses, or other production-critical operations.

• Proven experience in leading infrastructure planning, network delivery, manufacturing IT, technical program management, or a similarly complex technical portfolio.

• Experience facilitating cross-functional initiatives across Manufacturing, Facilities, construction trades, Plant IT, Cybersecurity, Architecture, Network Operations, engineering teams, and external suppliers.

• Skilled in managing multiple high-priority initiatives in production-sensitive or operationally critical environments.

• Experience with supplier management, scope control, financial tracking, resource planning, statements of work, and purchase-order processes.

• Proficient in managing technical risks, dependencies, timelines, readiness reviews, escalations, and stakeholder communications.

• Strong leadership, organizational, financial, project management, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to influence without direct authority and cultivate trusted relationships across business, technology, and operational organizations.

• Solid understanding of enterprise wired LAN and wireless LAN planning and delivery.

• Knowledge of switching, routing fundamentals, IP services, network segmentation, VLANs, DHCP, network access control, monitoring, and change management practices.

• Experience in planning or supporting wired and wireless network infrastructure, including MDFs, IDFs, fiber and copper connectivity, switching, wireless access points, power, space, and environmental requirements.

• Experience in supporting high-availability, production-critical network environments.

• Ability to assess and communicate network capacity, coverage, resiliency, security, monitoring, and operational support requirements.

• Experience coordinating wireless planning activities, such as coverage surveys, capacity planning, roaming, interference mitigation, outdoor connectivity, and device growth planning.

• Capability to translate complex technical dependencies and constraints into clear business impacts, milestones, risks, and decisions.

• Familiarity with network change planning, validation, rollback readiness, operational turnover, and production impact assessments.
