Managing Engineer, Grid Engineering and Interconnection

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers specializing in transmission planning and interconnection studies.

• Manage client relationships and oversee the delivery of interconnection, stability, and reliability studies.

• Supervise analyses related to power flow, voltage stability, transient stability, and short-circuits.

• Conduct analyses for generator and load interconnections, transmission planning, and economic assessments.

• Prepare and review technical documentation and reports.

• Ensure that deliverables align with client specifications for reliability, regulation, and quality standards.

• Manage project scope, staffing, budget, and timelines across multiple concurrent engagements.

• Actively contribute to complex or high-impact studies.

• Collaborate with global colleagues to enhance capacity and ensure consistent, high-quality output.

• Drive business development efforts through proposal creation, engagement scoping, and identifying client opportunities.

• Represent E Source in interactions with utilities, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and Independent System Operators (ISOs).

• Simplify technical findings for presentation to executive audiences.

• Support initiatives for grid reliability, renewable integration, and grid modernization for utility clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in power systems analysis, including at least 3 years in leading engineering teams, projects, or client engagements.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.

• Extensive proficiency in PSS/E for load-flow and transient stability analyses.

• Strong proficiency in ASPEN for short-circuit analysis.

• Familiarity with at least one additional planning tool such as PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, or DSA Tools.

• Proven track record in leading stability studies, congestion analysis, cost modeling, or cluster feasibility studies across one or more ISOs.

• Working knowledge of synchronous generators, motors, power electronic inverters, wind turbines, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

• Understanding of reliability standards, interconnection processes, substation layout, and protection and control systems.

• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships while delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Applicants must have authorization to work for any employer in the US or Canada.

• Previous consulting or client-facing experience in power systems is a plus.

• A Master’s or Ph.D. in power systems engineering is advantageous.

• Experience with multiple ISOs, open-source tools, or published technical writing is an asset.
