This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +3 more states.
β’ Spearhead the formulation of political and policy initiatives aimed at expediting the shift to 100% clean energy and electrified transportation.
β’ Identify prospective opportunities for policy and political advancement in selected states.
β’ Oversee a geographically diverse advocacy team and lobbyists.
β’ Create and execute both short-term and long-term strategies across legislative, regulatory, and administrative platforms.
β’ Collaborate with members to reach a consensus on policy viewpoints.
β’ Facilitate member conference calls and lead discussions on policy matters.
β’ Ensure top-notch member engagement through interactions with decision-makers, lobby days, candidate education, earned media, and expert testimony.
β’ Engage in legislative, rulemaking, and administrative procedures.
β’ Cultivate relationships with coalition partners, philanthropic organizations, allies, and government personnel.
β’ Represent United to funders and potential members while assisting in fundraising efforts.
β’ Develop connections with regional decision-makers and gain insight into regional power dynamics.
β’ Travel up to 30% to designated states for advocacy days, conferences, stakeholder meetings, staff training, and other United-related activities.
β’ Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or Economics preferred, or relevant comparable experience.
β’ At least ten years of professional experience in public policy, with some involvement in the clean energy or transportation field.
β’ Proven experience managing a team in a remote setting.
β’ Recognized as a subject matter expert in a specific area of focus.
β’ Background in political campaigning or organizing, ideally within the clean energy advocacy sector.
β’ Entrepreneurial mindset, adaptable attitude, and capability to work independently.
β’ Ability to engage members, customers, and funders while promoting United and its value proposition.
β’ Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop an internal team while collaborating across projects.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Intellectual curiosity, an inquisitive disposition, strong listening skills, and adept problem-solving abilities.
β’ Capability to manage project budgets and financials effectively.
β’ Strong work ethic, demonstrated initiative, and a commitment to achieving objectives.
β’ Must be a resident of the United States.
