This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +6 more locations.
• Provide reliable, decision-oriented guidance that links product sustainability with compliance, innovation, operations, branding, and overall business strategy.
• Take ownership of client results along with the quality and financial performance of designated projects.
• Foster strong client relationships and transform emerging needs into consulting prospects.
• Manage medium to large-scale, intricate, multidisciplinary projects that focus on product sustainability, circular economy, sustainable packaging, and product stewardship.
• Convert sustainability goals and regulatory requirements into practical strategies for products, packaging, materials, compliance, and implementation.
• Offer expertise on sustainable product design, material selection, life-cycle considerations, circularity, packaging optimization, extended producer responsibility, environmental certifications, and upcoming product sustainability regulations.
• Supervise project scope, budgets, timelines, teams, deliverables, and quality while nurturing client relationships and ensuring commercial success.
• Simplify complex technical, regulatory, and operational information into actionable recommendations, executive-ready reports, presentations, and workshops.
• Establish connections with senior client stakeholders across sustainability, product development, engineering, supply chain, procurement, operations, regulatory, and legal sectors.
• Spot opportunities, create proposals, assist with client presentations, enhance existing accounts, and contribute to the growth of ERM’s Product Sustainability services.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across ERM’s technical communities, industry sectors, and geographic regions.
• Mentor junior and mid-level consultants while promoting an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
• Enhance ERM's methodologies, intellectual assets, and market offerings related to product sustainability.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, chemistry, materials science, biology, business, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Prior consulting experience is essential.
• 4–6 years of pertinent experience in sustainability consulting, product sustainability, product stewardship, product environmental compliance, sustainable packaging, circular economy, environmental management, product development, supply chain, or a related area.
• Proven record of successfully managing complex projects or significant workstreams, including scope, schedule, budget, team coordination, quality, and client deliverables.
• Competence in interpreting intricate technical and regulatory information and transforming it into practical, business-oriented recommendations.
• Exceptional client-facing skills, relationship-building abilities, problem-solving expertise, facilitation, report-writing, and presentation capabilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities autonomously while collaborating effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
• Dedication to high-quality delivery and experience in coaching or mentoring peers.

• Preferred: advanced degree or relevant professional certification in sustainability, environmental management, engineering, science, business, or project management.
• Preferred: experience leading external consulting projects and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Preferred: experience in sustainable product or packaging strategy, circular design, EPR and packaging regulations, materials sustainability, life-cycle assessment or life-cycle thinking, product environmental standards, certifications or ecolabels, environmental management systems, product stewardship, sustainability data and claims, or supply-chain sustainability.
• Preferred: experience integrating environmental or sustainability requirements into product-development processes, management systems, or operational models.
• Preferred: experience supporting business development, proposal preparation, client presentations, account growth, or new service development.
• Preferred: experience working with multinational corporations and senior cross-functional stakeholders.
