This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee and manage operations within a local office or region.
• Guide, mentor, and supervise attorneys in the local office/region.
• Evaluate and assign new cases within the office.
• Facilitate one 30-minute educational and training session each month.
• Review two cases for each attorney monthly.
• Assess one plaintiff deposition transcript for every direct report attorney on a quarterly basis.
• Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with each attorney to discuss file reviews, concerns, case evaluations, upcoming trials, follow-up on training, performance relative to goals, and necessary documentation.
• Perform thorough reviews of all pre-trial reports.
• Organize roundtable discussions with claims 60 days prior to trial.
• Keep an active log of cases that require special attention.
• Manage a lighter litigation caseload from the initiation of cases through to post-trial motions.
• Complete various tasks and projects as assigned by department leaders.
• A law degree and admission to the bar in the relevant state(s) where the team and cases are located are required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance defense.
• Experience with 10 insurance defense personal injury jury trials or equivalent litigation experience is needed.
• Previous experience supervising attorneys and staff is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance law, torts, evidence, civil procedure, and trial practice is necessary.
• Strong communication, persuasion, and analytical skills are required.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead attorneys and staff.
• Willingness to travel by automobile up to 20% of work time.
• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent organizational skills are necessary to manage an attorney team and caseload effectively.
• Must comply with established company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status to qualify for the position.
