This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
β’ Act as the subject matter authority on core technical architecture while collaborating directly with engineers on implementation, impact, and risk assessment.
β’ Oversee and nurture a team of Project Managers, including the distribution of workloads, prioritization of portfolios, and fostering professional development.
β’ Direct the requirements gathering process for substantial architectural projects aimed at achieving an agreed Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
β’ Manage scope creep across competing team strategies.
β’ Establish and lead specialized working groups (tiger teams) for targeted architectural modifications.
β’ Conduct and facilitate Architecture Intake sessions with engineering leads from both architecture and feature teams.
β’ Evaluate new RFCs before they are committed to the roadmap.
β’ Triage daily requests and escalations from feature teams across Paramount Streaming platforms.
β’ Differentiate between routine requests and more complex dependency issues.
β’ Communicate the health of programs, risks, and the status of the architectural roadmap to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
β’ A minimum of 7 years of technical program management experience in a complex, matrixed engineering environment.
β’ Preferred experience in supporting platform or architecture teams rather than feature delivery teams.
β’ Proven experience in managing or mentoring program/project managers, focusing on performance, growth, and balancing workloads.
β’ Ability to comprehend and analyze system architecture to assess engineering estimates, scoping, and technical trade-offs.
β’ Experience in conducting structured technical review processes, such as architecture review boards or RFC processes.
β’ Experience managing platform or infrastructure projects with dependencies spanning multiple engineering teams and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
β’ Strong judgment in escalation scenarios, pushback, and ensuring engineering team autonomy.
β’ High proficiency in using Jira, Confluence, and technical documentation.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with engineers and leadership.
β’ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
β’ Familiarity with Next.js, Module Federation, micro-frontend architectures, or similar web platform technologies is preferred.
β’ Experience in direct-to-consumer streaming, media, or high-traffic web platforms is advantageous.
β’ A background as a software engineer or technical lead prior to moving into program management is preferred.
