
Manager, Strategic Accounts – GM Defense

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of and implement strategic account plans for traditional Defense Primes.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with executives, business-unit leaders, program managers, capture leaders, and stakeholders in engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement.
• Identify, assess, and shape new business opportunities in manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain support.
• Drive opportunity development through initial stages utilizing the “Real, Win, Worth” framework.
• Create integrated program plans and business cases that encompass scope, requirements, solution strategy, milestones, resources, investment, risks, dependencies, pricing inputs, returns, and decision points.
• Convert customer and program requirements into internal workstreams, detailing owners, timelines, deliverables, and escalation paths.
• Lead a small team of professionals in account management, business development, and program execution.
• Mobilize and coordinate cross-functional teams spanning strategy, business development, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, finance, legal, contracts, security, and operations.
• Update senior GM Defense and executive stakeholders on account health, opportunity status, plans, business cases, risks, and recommended actions.
• Prepare materials for executives and customer-facing content including account reviews, gate packages, capture strategies, program plans, and business cases.
• Establish operating rhythms for account reviews, opportunity tracking, customer engagement, action-item closure, risk management, and escalation processes.
• Align Defense Prime engagement with Department of War priorities, acquisition timelines, budgeting processes, contracting strategies, and industrial-base objectives.
• Represent GM Defense in customer meetings, industry events, program reviews, and partner discussions.
• Enhance standard work, decision processes, information flow, cross-functional alignment, and consistent defense-prime growth practices.
• Safeguard sensitive company, customer, and program information.
• Report directly to the Vice President, Strategy and Transformation.
• Travel frequently, at least 50%, which includes worldwide travel and visits to locations such as Washington, DC, Warren, Milford, Michigan, and various customer sites.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated capability to develop and maintain senior customer relationships and convert them into qualified and actionable business opportunities.
• Strong program management skills that integrate scope, schedule, resources, risks, dependencies, financial considerations, and cross-functional deliverables.
• Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing a small team in a matrixed, fast-paced setting.
• Exceptional organizational effectiveness, prioritization, and follow-through skills.
• Strong executive communication abilities, including briefing senior leaders and influencing without direct authority.
• Capacity to work independently in a remote environment with distributed teams.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee.
• U.S. citizenship is required for compliance with federal government contracts.
• Eligible to obtain Secret U.S. Security Clearance after being hired.
• Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
• Preferred: 7+ years of increasingly responsible experience in business development, capture, program management, account management, strategy, or a related field.
• Preferred: an advanced degree, such as a master’s in business administration, engineering, operations, national security, public policy, or a related domain.
• Preferred: an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance on the first day of employment.
• No immigration-related sponsorship is available.
• Must be willing to travel at least 50% or more frequently.
