This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee strategic sourcing and contract negotiations for software, cloud, infrastructure, consulting, and various technology suppliers.
• Formulate category and sourcing strategies that align with the objectives of the CTO, CISO, and CIO organizations.
• Manage relationships and performance initiatives for key suppliers, including hyperscaler and cloud partners.
• Perform spend analysis and conduct market intelligence research, keeping an eye on trends and supply chain risks.
• Establish category KPIs and performance metrics, presenting findings to senior leadership.
• Anticipate demand and manage expenditures in accordance with category budgets in collaboration with Finance Business Partners.
• Collaborate with executives and stakeholders to assess options and guide procurement decisions effectively.
• Work alongside Legal, Finance, Security, Information Technology, and other departments throughout the procurement lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities for savings while balancing cost, risk, service quality, and business requirements.
• Enhance procurement and procure-to-pay processes to minimize cycle times.
• Investigate practical applications of artificial intelligence in procurement, analysis, and negotiation preparation.
• Provide ongoing support to GitLab’s technology organizations and essential suppliers through regular partnerships with senior leadership.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and complex contract negotiations.
• Demonstrated experience in procuring software as a service, cloud infrastructure, or other technical products and services.
• Familiarity with cloud hosting, infrastructure services, and commercial terms commonly found in technology contracts.
• Understanding of procure-to-pay processes, systems, and procurement operations.
• Experience with Zip or similar procure-to-pay systems is preferred.
• Ability to establish trusted partnerships with executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to clarify complex commercial topics for diverse audiences.
• A collaborative, self-directed approach with a readiness to lead discussions and support teammates.
• Previous experience in a software or technology company is preferred; relevant experience from other industries is also welcomed.
• 5–7 years of procurement experience, including a minimum of 3 years in category management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
• Advanced project management capabilities.
