This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Establish and nurture strategic, long-term partnerships with patient associations and stakeholders.
• Align objectives and plan activities that influence decision-makers.
• Contribute to patient engagement, advocacy, and centricity throughout the patient journey.
• Enhance the patient experience while informing corporate and brand strategies.
• Work collaboratively with individuals living with diseases and patient associations to pinpoint priorities, unmet needs, and potential solutions.
• Create and spearhead a proactive patient relations agenda.
• Formulate and execute advocacy strategies and action plans that include timelines, budgets, and stakeholder roles.
• Coordinate and implement patient-focused initiatives that support commercial strategies within a specific therapeutic area.
• Offer insights into trends and opportunities for patient strategy and brand plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop patient-centered solutions.
• Track patient-related activities and provide reports to brand teams.
• Collaborate with Area and Global teams on strategic initiatives appropriate for Canada.
• Represent AbbVie at pertinent meetings, including strategic patient association gatherings.
• Discover innovative methods to learn from patients and convey their needs to Brand teams.
• Act as a knowledgeable resource on the strengths, challenges, and needs of patient associations.
• Cultivate relationships with functional leads in Marketing, Government Affairs, Market Access, Public Affairs, Medical Affairs, and other departments.
• Ensure compliance with written documentation, Code of Practice, and ACC reporting requirements.
• Report to the Lead, Patient Engagement.
• Cover the Canadian territory while working in the field.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sciences, Nursing, Public Affairs, or another relevant field.
• Advanced proficiency in both English and French; preference given to bilingual candidates.
• Experience in collaboration with patient associations.
• Background in patient/stakeholder relations, market access, and/or marketing.
• Experience in a cross-functional team and brand team settings is advantageous.
• Intermediate skills in computer and software applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, and Internet usage.
• Capacity to empathize with patients and build trusting relationships.
• Ability to forge relationships with patient organizations.
• Capability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in preparing and delivering impactful presentations.
• Strong strategic verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective active listening and stakeholder needs assessment abilities.
• Strategic mindset with a willingness to challenge existing norms.
• Ability to influence decision-makers effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated autonomy and strong planning capabilities.
• Competence in budget management.
• Robust project management skills.
• Knowledge of legislation and ethical considerations when working with patients and patient associations.
• Familiarity with media and communication trends.
• Understanding of provincial and federal political landscapes and healthcare systems.
• Ability to take decisive actions and embody behavioral standards that reflect AbbVie’s leadership philosophy and values.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20–25% of the time.
• Valid driver’s license and passport required.
• Advanced English language skills are essential for effective communication with English-speaking employees, clients, and regions outside Quebec.
