This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee, retain, and profitably enhance a portfolio of American Express’ largest and most strategic global enterprise Commercial Card and payment clients.
• Take ownership of client strategy, profitable growth, retention, relationship expansion, global account strategy, and sales pipeline.
• Create and implement comprehensive global account plans that include strategic priorities, growth objectives, measurable outcomes, and executive engagement strategies.
• Foster relationships with stakeholders ranging from program-level contacts to senior executives and C-suite leaders.
• Identify and promote opportunities to increase share of wallet, create net-new spending, and broaden the adoption of American Express products and solutions.
• Lead intricate commercial and contract negotiations, including renewals, pricing proposals, RFP responses, and strategic client agreements.
• Offer strategic and consultative support to Finance, Procurement, Treasury, and other client stakeholders.
• Mobilize cross-functional teams and subject matter experts across American Express’ matrixed global organization.
• Collaborate with Client Management, Product, Operations and Servicing, Risk and Underwriting, Legal, Strategic Partnerships, and additional teams.
• Navigate multinational client environments, regulatory concerns, risk and underwriting requirements, and operational needs.
• Act as the senior point of contact for complex client issues and escalations until resolution.
• Spearhead initiatives related to global systems and process integrations, regulatory requirements, underwriting and risk considerations, and cross-market dependencies.
• Monitor industry, competitive, and payments trends, translating insights into strategic recommendations and growth opportunities.
• Proven experience managing large, complex global enterprise clients across various markets, business units, functions, and senior stakeholders.
• Established strategic account management experience driving client growth, retention, relationship expansion, and measurable commercial results.
• Demonstrated ownership of sales and pipeline within existing enterprise accounts.
• Experience in participating in or leading complex contract negotiations, renewals, pricing discussions, RFP responses, and commercial agreements.
• Capability to mobilize cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams in highly matrixed organizations without direct reporting authority.
• Ability to engage with senior executives and C-suite stakeholders effectively.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Exceptional consultative and solution-selling skills.
• Experience navigating complex client initiatives involving multiple markets, stakeholders, products, systems, and business functions.
• Outstanding executive communication, presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Capability to manage complex client issues and escalations efficiently.
• Ability to work independently in a virtual environment across various geographies and time zones.
• Preferred: 8+ years of strategic account management, relationship management, consultative sales, or business development experience supporting large global enterprise clients.
• Preferred experience in Commercial Card, payments, B2B payments, transaction banking, treasury services, expense management, fintech, or complex enterprise financial services.
• Preferred knowledge of Commercial Card, T&E, supplier payments, B2B payment solutions, and/or Procure-to-Pay processes.
• Preferred experience with senior Finance, Procurement, Treasury, or corporate decision-makers.
• Preferred understanding of corporate finance, accounting, treasury, finance operations, expense management solutions, and ERP/accounting systems.
• Preferred experience with complex global contract management and negotiations.
• Preferred program and/or project management experience.
• Preferred knowledge of the competitive landscape within Commercial Card, payments, B2B payments, or Procure-to-Pay solutions.
