This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and manage Wealthsimple’s internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) program.
• Design internal controls for existing processes and create control frameworks for new products.
• Oversee control framework documentation, lead testing efforts, and collaborate with control owners in Finance, Operations, and Engineering.
• Establish the ICFR program in partnership with external advisors.
• Keep process narratives, RCMs, flowcharts, and testing procedures up to date.
• Organize and manage walkthroughs and testing in accordance with the annual ICFR plan.
• Assist control owners in addressing and correcting deficiencies.
• Act as the main liaison for external auditors, coordinating evidence requests, walkthroughs, and remediation efforts.
• Manage control testing for financial reporting audits, SOC 1 audits, and various other audits.
• Evaluate the effects of business decisions on financial processes, Operations, and Engineering.
• Collaborate with Technology to create controls documentation and innovative solutions, including AI-enabled tools.
• Over 5 years of experience in internal controls or auditing.
• Practical ICFR experience in compliance with SOX or CSOX.
• Familiarity with COSO 2013 framework.
• CPA designation or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in a SOX or CSOX control environment within a public company.
• Practical experience utilizing technology, including AI tools, for documenting, testing, or automating controls.
• Strong capability to communicate the significance of a robust control environment and raise awareness.
• Enthusiasm for technology, particularly in the fintech sector.
• Inquisitive nature with the ability to investigate and resolve issues.
• Excellent communication skills, able to express complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Detail-oriented and methodical approach to reviewing work.
