This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Lead and cultivate a dedicated Analytics Engineering team in collaboration with Analysts and Data Engineers.
• Establish data modeling standards and dbt best practices for the healthcare.gov outreach team.
• Supervise the migration, refactoring, and optimization of intricate SQL logic into scalable dbt pipelines.
• Create dimensional models and semantic layers to address business inquiries and monitor KPIs.
• Design and manage complex Airflow DAGs to facilitate data movement.
• Implement data quality assessments and oversee data reliability.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for datasets, lineage, and transformation logic.
• Enhance query performance and data model efficiency; optimize Snowflake usage.
• Gain insights into federal healthcare programs, ACA policy mandates, and regulatory frameworks.
• Tackle challenges autonomously and deliver precise products under tight deadlines.
• Perform additional reasonable tasks as assigned by management.
• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in data analytics/infrastructure, analytics engineering, with at least 1 year in a leadership, management, or mentoring role.
• Demonstrated success in using dbt and creating downstream data models (Kimball/Vault) in cloud environments such as Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks, alongside pipeline management in Airflow or equivalent tools.
• Experience in optimizing data models for enhanced query performance.
• Strong interest or experience in mentoring junior Analytics Engineering team members and establishing best practices within the team.
• Capacity to comprehend the business logic of ingested data and convert it into derivative data products.
• Ability to work independently to drive parts of larger projects.
• Experience in providing thorough reviews of colleagues' work and a solid understanding of version control (e.g., Git).
• Capability to successfully obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust security clearance.
