This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise the performance and career growth of members within the Underwriting team
• Oversee risk selection, pricing, and management of personal auto policies
• Guarantee high-quality output, operational effectiveness, and exceptional service
• Take responsibility for the overall underwriting efficiency and profitability of the branch
• Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and established underwriting practices and procedures
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with agents, vendors, Sales, Product Management, and internal colleagues
• Provide ongoing performance feedback to team members
• Recognize and nurture staff with the skills and potential for advanced roles and career growth
• Conduct coaching and disciplinary actions as needed
• Ensure underwriting outputs are of high quality and aligned with strategy, standards, guidelines, service objectives, and applicable laws and regulations
• Keep abreast of industry trends and competitor activities
• Maintain and revise underwriting procedures to comply with regulatory mandates
• Evaluate automation rules for efficiency and process enhancements
• Ensure consistency with other states when relevant
• Contribute to the development of new property products, system upgrades, and documentation
• Oversee user testing and conduct post-implementation assessments and reviews
• Lead initiatives aimed at process enhancement, efficiency improvement, growth, and profitability
• Bachelor’s Degree is mandatory
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
• At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role
• CPCU designation or coursework leading to a CPCU designation is preferred
• Must consistently exercise independent judgment regarding personnel and claims matters
• Comprehensive understanding of established Company policies, procedures, and underwriting operations
• Capability to apply underwriting expertise in a managerial context
• Ability to offer technical support and educational training to team members
• Proficient at motivating, monitoring, and developing subordinates
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Capacity to communicate professionally at all levels within and outside the organization
