Manager, Field Services – Plant Startup and Refueling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage Plant Services Program Managers accountable for field deliverables related to the startup and maintenance of NuScale NPMs.

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of plant services programs while achieving cost, schedule, and quality targets.

• Establish performance expectations, mentor and develop direct reports, conduct performance evaluations, and manage workloads and priorities.

• Review and authorize business cases, program budgets, financial performance reports, long-range planning contributions, and fiscal expenditure proposals.

• Maintain financial accountability for the plant services program portfolio.

• Convert senior leadership directives into team goals and program objectives.

• Report on team performance, program status, and key metrics to the Senior Director of Plant Services.

• Incorporate customer requirements and business capabilities into plant services program strategies.

• Set performance benchmarks, evaluate field metrics, and ensure reliable program execution.

• Act as the senior escalation point for issues related to program processes and delivery.

• Supervise field operations, program governance, project policies, procedures, and earned value management practices.

• Participate in the formulation of strategic plans for NuScale Plant Services.

• Collaborate with Business Development, Supply Chain, PMO, customer representatives, and other stakeholders.

• Keep abreast of regulatory and industry trends and implement solutions to compliance and operational challenges.

• Identify and address discrepancies between NPM design and serviceability.

• Travel locally and nationally and, with training, work on active power plant construction sites.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, engineering technology, or science, or over 20 years of technical experience in the nuclear sector.

• An MBA or advanced engineering degree is preferred.

• At least fifteen years of full-time experience in a nuclear reactor technology development company, with five years spent in its services delivery organization.

• Senior Reactor Operator certification at an operational nuclear generating facility, experience in nuclear-related construction and startup, and/or experience in nuclear services business development and execution.

• Excellent technical writing, communication, and leadership abilities.

• Proven capability to apply project management principles and relevant information technology tools across various nuclear services projects.

• Demonstrated skill in managing and inspiring personnel assigned to specific control accounts and coordinating multiple technical disciplines.

• Proven ownership, accountability, technical expertise, and leadership experience in planning and executing startup and/or refueling projects within the nuclear industry.

• Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and mentor teams effectively.

• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

• Capable of working on an active NuScale power plant construction project site with appropriate training.

• Ability to communicate clearly through phones, face-to-face interactions, and computer systems.

• Quick learner who can grasp new job functions and concepts swiftly and apply them accurately in a dynamic environment.

• Willingness to travel locally and nationally using common transportation methods.
