This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and guide a diverse group of software engineers.
• Promote technical and career development through constructive feedback, performance evaluations, and personalized growth plans.
• Engage in the recruitment, development, and retention of a high-performing engineering team.
• Offer architectural direction and technical oversight for team services.
• Work in partnership with Product Management to outline roadmaps, prioritize tasks, manage project scopes, and ensure timely delivery.
• Encourage the adoption and responsible use of generative AI tools within the team.
• Deliver AI-assisted development training, support, code review practices, security considerations, and quality assurance checkpoints.
• Oversee the team's engineering processes and uphold best practices in software engineering, architecture, security, testing, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
• Promote continuous improvement based on established metrics.
• Ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performance products and services.
• Manage on-call rotations, alerting, monitoring, incident management, post-mortems, and reliability enhancements.
• Communicate roadmaps, delivery targets, obstacles, and issues to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to integrate, deploy, and manage services.
• Address cross-team technical challenges and provide guidance on broader technical solutions and standards.
• Actively contribute to architectural design, technical evaluations, and occasional coding tasks.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven success in delivering complex, large-scale systems.
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership or engineering management role with direct reports.
• In-depth knowledge of technology architecture, programming languages (e.g., Ruby, Python, TypeScript), systems, and security models.
• Expertise in modern web development stacks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, React, MySQL) and API-based architectures.
• Experience in building and managing reliable asynchronous messaging, event-driven systems (e.g., Pub/Sub, SQS/SNS, RabbitMQ) and background processing (e.g., Sidekiq, Celery).
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, team building, mentoring, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum or similar collaborative development methodologies.
• Knowledge of modern observability solutions for monitoring, logging, and tracing production systems.
• Experience developing with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Preferred: Experience in the EdTech sector and a commitment to enhancing learning outcomes.
• Preferred: Background in optimizing engineering processes and fostering continuous improvement.
• Preferred: Experience implementing and managing AI tools and workflows within a development team, with an understanding of responsible AI principles and security considerations.
