AI Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of AI and automation engineers, which includes responsibilities for hiring, performance management, career development, and daily coaching.

• Define the technical direction and standards for automation and AI development, covering aspects such as architecture patterns, tooling selections, and the integration of LLM/AI into automation workflows.

• Actively write, review, and deploy production code on a regular basis.

• Function as the team's technical lead for hands-on architectural and implementation decisions, as well as for complex or critical tasks.

• Oversee the team's project portfolio, prioritizing initiatives, allocating resources, and ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and senior leadership to pinpoint automation opportunities, develop the roadmap, and communicate progress and return on investment (ROI).

• Review and provide guidance on solution architecture and code for intricate automation and AI projects, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.

• Establish and enforce best practices for the development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and governance of automation and AI systems.

• Manage incident resolution and escalation for production automation problems, ensuring swift resolution and root-cause analysis.

• Assess emerging automation and AI technologies and recommend their adoption.

• Handle vendor and tool relationships, including licensing, contracts, and platform strategy.

• Foster collaboration with IT, data, security, and compliance teams.

• Create and uphold documentation standards, architectural guidelines, and knowledge-sharing practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in automation engineering, software engineering, or AI/ML development.

• Practical experience with RPA platforms such as UiPath, Power Automate, Automation Anywhere, or similar tools.

• Experience in integrating AI/LLM technologies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI, or similar into production systems.

• Strong hands-on skills in Python or a similar language, with a proven history of delivering production code.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop technical teams.

• Solid understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, LLM orchestration, agentic workflows, and contemporary automation architecture.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP and their AI/automation service offerings.

• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps.

• Experienced in project and resource management across multiple simultaneous initiatives.

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis; knowledge of SQL and reporting tools is a plus.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to leadership.

• Capacity to build consensus and influence across teams without direct authority.

• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on emerging automation and AI trends.

• Candidates must be Ukraine Private Entrepreneurs (FOP), whether in-country or abroad.
