Senior Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee various engineering teams responsible for developing customer-facing web applications, APIs, and services within a comprehensive DNS product portfolio.

• Cultivate engineers and technical leaders by establishing clear expectations, providing regular feedback, offering coaching, facilitating career development, and assigning ownership.

• Ensure consistent delivery by converting product priorities into actionable plans, managing dependencies, identifying risks, and holding teams accountable for results.

• Direct technical strategy and engineering practices while enabling senior engineers to take charge of architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operational readiness.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, SQA, and peer engineering teams to clarify ambiguities, align priorities, and create cohesive customer experiences.

• Enhance engineering efficiency through practical processes, operational practices, technical debt reduction, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Create customer-facing applications and APIs for Akamai's DNS and IP Acceleration products.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

• Proven experience in leading software engineering teams across various products or workstreams.

• Technical expertise in backend services, REST APIs, distributed systems, and web application architectures.

• Experience in mentoring and developing senior engineers and technical leads.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex software solutions in collaboration with Product Management, Quality Engineering, Architecture, and other engineering teams.

• Strong communication skills across both technical and business audiences.

• Capability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, technical disagreements, and organizational complexity.
