Manager – Conflicts, New Business Intake

📋 Description

• Oversee the Conflicts Researcher and Analyst teams while managing the daily operations of the Firm’s New Business Intake process.

• Supervise department performance, employee development, service quality, and initiatives aimed at process improvement.

• Ensure that the activities of Conflicts Researchers and Analysts are in compliance with Firm policies, service standards, and industry best practices.

• Guide the Conflicts Researcher Supervisor and Conflicts Analyst Supervisor in managing team performance, employee growth, workflow priorities, and daily operations.

• Develop, track, and analyze KPIs, operational metrics, service-level metrics, and workload trends.

• Assess department performance, identify risks, suggest resource allocation strategies, and facilitate data-driven decision-making.

• Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Firm attorneys, General Counsel, and New Business Committee on complex conflicts and business intake issues.

• Offer guidance on escalated conflicts and intake challenges, ensuring proper resolution and escalation of legal, ethical, or business-related risks.

• Foster collaborative relationships with attorneys, legal support staff, and administrative departments.

• Coordinate systems, workflows, and departmental objectives with Firm administrators.

• Supervise conflicts research, conflicts analysis, and new business intake processes.

• Allocate resources effectively to satisfy departmental requirements.

• Establish and uphold quality assurance standards while promoting consistency across departmental functions.

• Lead the development and implementation of innovative processes, technologies, and workflow enhancements.

• Create training materials, reference guides, and resources that showcase best practices.

• Manage staffing needs, which includes hiring, performance management, employee development, and succession planning.

• Set department training priorities and support programs related to conflicts, intake procedures, Firm policies, professional responsibility, and departmental technology.

• Maintain exceptional standards of client service and quality control.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of seven years of experience in law firm conflicts, new business intake, risk management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• At least three years of management or supervisory experience is mandatory.

• Proven knowledge of conflicts searching and analysis, new business intake processes, and relevant professional responsibility requirements.

• Experience in managing operations, workflow priorities, employee development, and service delivery in a dynamic environment.

• Familiarity with Intapp or other automated conflicts software and legal research tools is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications.

• Strong research capabilities.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks while being detail-oriented and possessing strong organizational skills.

• Excellent analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Outstanding organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.

• Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

• Occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to fulfill essential duties.

• Capacity to manage a team across varying skill levels and locations, both internal and external, to provide high-quality service to end users.

• Ability to lead and build consensus among colleagues and staff.

• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

• Ability to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information.

• Must be able to perform essential duties within time constraints and interruptions.

• Strong client service focus and team-oriented approach.

• Demonstrate sound judgment, tact, and adaptability under pressure in a mixed-matrix environment with numerous stakeholders and potentially competing priorities.
