Manager, Cloud Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify the needs for secure, reliable, cost-effective, and high-performance cloud environments.

• Oversee the deployment of cloud applications and services in production.

• Prioritize tasks and provide direction for Cloud Operations team members.

• Work in partnership with R&D management to develop monitoring and alerting systems based on collaboratively established KPIs.

• Ensure cloud systems are backed up, consistently available, well-documented, and secure.

• Collect baseline performance data and implement alert mechanisms.

• Establish protocols for chains of custody, reporting, and handoff procedures for bugs and incidents.

• Maintain current SOC2 certifications while ensuring ongoing compliance with SOC2 requirements.

• Develop cloud security protocols, conduct regular risk assessments, and oversee routine penetration testing.

• Formulate and test remediation strategies for potential issues.

• Enhance and refine processes and capabilities through the use of suitable AI tools.

• Communicate progress and escalate issues to the appropriate leadership swiftly.

• Champion the Cloud Operations team by recognizing growth opportunities and suggesting promotions.

• Foster a culture of ongoing growth and improvement within the Cloud Operations team.

• Report directly to the Vice President of Technology.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven success in managing cloud architectures, including Azure and AWS.

• Extensive experience leading a team responsible for overseeing production cloud environments; strong team-building abilities.

• Proficient in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

• Practical expertise in networking, compute, storage, and virtualization/containerization technologies.

• Strong grasp of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS architectural principles.

• Significant experience in building and managing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.

• Demonstrated familiarity with AI technologies, including the application of AI tools for generating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and improving reporting/monitoring capabilities.

• Solid understanding of common software and application vulnerabilities, with the capability and judgment to make swift risk-mitigation decisions.

• Expertise in automating infrastructure, configurations, and deployments.

• Extensive experience with Application Performance Monitoring platforms such as New Relic or Datadog.

• Knowledge of modern programming or scripting languages including Python, Go, C#, Ruby, or PowerShell.

• Strong interest in DevOps methodologies and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Git, Puppet, Chef, or Jenkins.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Exceptional time management and analytical abilities.

• Positive, diplomatic, and professional demeanor with high emotional intelligence.

• Preferred: Significant experience with SOC2 and similar certifications or regulatory frameworks, such as ISO 27001 and/or GDPR.

• Preferred: Experience with compliance platform software like Druva, Vanta, or Secureframe.
