Manager, Area Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the comprehensive operation and upkeep of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems for data centers within a designated market.

• Drive operations towards achieving a mission-critical uptime of 99.999% or greater.

• Act as a technical advisor for Critical Infrastructure, Design, and Construction teams.

• Identify strategic business risks and opportunities, implementing plans and processes for long-term goals.

• Offer technical and management support to the operations team.

• Oversee the commissioning of new data centers and enhancements to infrastructure.

• Develop and manage program-level planning and project oversight.

• Assist in nationwide facility operations, maintenance, and staff training.

• Supervise and evaluate subcontractor performance.

• Address maintenance discrepancies and site issues collaboratively with Operations management, vendors, and subcontractors.

• Provide support and training to new employees in preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance protocols.

• Serve as a point of escalation for facilities-related concerns.

• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures.

• Ensure that vendors and staff comply with safety regulations.

• Create site-specific solutions for infrastructure and business requirements.

• Effectively communicate intricate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

• Set performance benchmarks, analyze operations, and compile reports.

• Foster innovation, decrease operational expenses, and mitigate facility-related risks.

• Configure monitoring and alert systems for facility equipment.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of direct, relevant technical experience with Data Center MEP equipment operation, construction, and maintenance.

• At least 5 years of management experience with 5 or more direct reports.

• Over 5 years of experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem-solving.

• More than 5 years of experience in a critical infrastructure environment.

• Relevant military experience is a plus.

• Applicable trade experience is also beneficial.

• Capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in navigating common word processing software.

• Ability to remain seated for extended periods.

• Willingness to walk or stand for approximately 50% of the time.

• Moderate to advanced keyboarding skills are required.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

• A valid driver's license and insurance are necessary.

• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and reside in an eligible state.

• Preferred: advanced electrical or mechanical certifications; a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field; 8+ years of experience in data centers; and 8+ years of management experience.
