This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee daily operations of staff, whether on-site or remote, for a client hospital.
• Direct team efforts and ensure thorough follow-up by the team.
• Address pertinent inquiries, establish objectives, allocate resources, monitor and analyze accounts receivable, and uphold staff accountability.
• Deliver hands-on training to staff members.
• Supervise outstanding patient accounts and pinpoint as well as rectify billing errors and claim denials.
• Lead weekly team meetings aimed at enhancing revenue cycle performance and ongoing training.
• Maintain and monitor standard operating procedures and process improvement initiatives.
• Examine patient accounts for accuracy in billing codes, patient demographics, and insurance details.
• Develop and implement strategies to boost collection rates and minimize outstanding accounts receivable.
• Track complex payer trends and relay issues and researched payer-specific guidelines to management.
• Produce regular reports on team performance and key metrics, identify potential challenges, and devise solutions.
• Guide and evaluate team performance based on key metrics and monthly collection targets.
• Recognize areas for improvement and execute action plans addressing payer and denial challenges.
• Protect confidential patient account information in both verbal communications and written correspondence.
• Supervise daily billing and collections for Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, BCBS, HMOs/PPOs, commercial insurance, and self-pay accounts.
• Interpret and follow up on insurance contracts regarding rates, discounts, and filing instructions.
• Implement federal and state credit collection regulations and guidelines.
• Manage HR-related responsibilities including new hire orientation, staffing coverage, time-off approvals, timecards, counseling/discipline, and evaluations.
• Monitor staff productivity effectively.
• Coordinate agendas and present findings during scheduled conference calls.
• Research and analyze patient accounts as needed.
• Prepare and submit company- and client-required reports in a timely manner.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in general hospital business office billing and collections.
• At least two years of experience at the managerial level.
• Proficient understanding of medical office operations or medical terminology training.
• High level of professionalism demonstrated through appearance and conduct.
• Familiarity with critical access hospital business office functions.
• Strong analytical abilities to detect and resolve complex billing issues.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency in billing software, electronic health records systems, and data analysis tools.
• Expertise in billing and/or collections for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial accounts, and self-pay.
• Comprehensive understanding of the entire revenue cycle.
• Knowledge of hospital, clinic, and business office operations.
• Ability to read and write for calculations and report preparation with supporting documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Manual dexterity for data entry and retrieval on a computer.
• Capability to sit for extended periods.
• Ability to move moderately heavy objects.
• Travel to client site(s) required at less than 10% frequency.
