Major Gifts Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Identify and cultivate high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) prospects through research, wealth screening, referrals, executive and board networks, events, and direct outreach.

• Guide prospects through the stages of qualification, discovery, cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and closure.

• Manage approximately $3M+ in annual fundraising, accurately forecasting pipeline progress, risks, and opportunities.

• Develop customized cultivation strategies that align philanthropic interests with CodeAI's mission, programs, and funding priorities.

• Collaborate with the CEO, executives, and board members to promote high-potential opportunities.

• Design donor experiences to identify new prospects and advance existing ones.

• Create donor proposals, presentations, and pitches.

• Establish repeatable practices for prospecting, outreach, qualification, cultivation, and conversion.

• Maintain precise records of prospects and opportunities in Salesforce.

• Collaborate across CodeAI to advance opportunities and ensure effective gift processing and stewardship transitions.

• Identify and nurture new foundation and corporate funding opportunities as a secondary focus.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of frontline fundraising experience, with considerable time spent in major individual giving and engaging HNW and UHNW individuals.

• Proven ability to build a major-donor portfolio from scratch, without relying chiefly on an inherited book of business or warm leads.

• A strong track record of independently originating, cultivating, and securing six- and seven-figure transformational gifts and multi-year commitments throughout the full major-gift cycle.

• Experience managing significant fundraising goals and a pipeline capable of yielding multi-million-dollar annual revenue, demonstrating strong forecasting discipline and familiarity with Salesforce or a similar CRM.

• Proven experience partnering with CEOs, executives, and board members to enhance high-value donor relationships.

• Exceptional relationship-building, communication, storytelling, and proposal-development skills, along with the judgment and discretion necessary to engage sophisticated philanthropic investors.

• Ability to work independently, create opportunities, and deliver results in a dynamic, high-accountability environment.

• A deep passion for CodeAI's mission and a willingness to travel up to 20% to engage with donors and prospects.

• Must work within the continental United States.

• Preferred: experience using events and personalized experiences to initiate and cultivate major-donor relationships.
