Mainframe Systems Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide assistance for ongoing projects that involve the installation, upgrading, testing, configuration, and implementation of ISV software.

• Monitor software performance and offer on-call support as needed.

• Investigate and assess new software solutions.

• Aid team members and other departments with technical inquiries and problem-solving.

• Engage in the on-call rotation schedule.

• Address and resolve incidents and challenges.

• Manage incidents, changes, and issues effectively.

• Configure and customize systems to meet requirements.

• Establish parameters for system operation.

• Liaise with vendors as necessary.

• Contribute to and participate in technical projects.

• Assist in problem resolution and the implementation of changes.

• Conduct moderately complex ISV installations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a mainframe environment within a large enterprise, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A bachelor’s degree is required, along with relevant work experience.

• Proficient knowledge and understanding of z/OS, including installation and maintenance with SMP/E.

• Strong expertise in TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and JCL.

• Extensive knowledge of Unix System Services (USS).

• Solid understanding of USS file system management and security practices.

• Capability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.

• Resilience under pressure during major incidents or emergency situations.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Customer service abilities at a management level.

• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.

• Knowledgeable in z/OS security protocols.

• Familiar with z/OS systems programming functions.

• Understanding of z/OS services structure, Parallel Sysplex, and catalog management.
