Machine Learning Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Become a part of Motional’s ML Acceleration team.

• Develop and enhance core systems that empower researchers to train cutting-edge models on a large scale.

• Analyze performance utilizing tools like Nsight and PyTorch Profiler.

• Detect bottlenecks in data loading, gradient computation, and communication processes.

• Execute optimizations such as kernel fusion, sharding, and tiling to enhance step time.

• Improve distributed training pipelines through PyTorch Distributed.

• Design and uphold high-performance GPU kernels using Triton or CUDA.

• Refine robust data loading pipelines to maximize training throughput.

• Assist in scaling distributed model training and minimizing time-to-convergence for next-gen models.

• Engage in collaboration through in-office work in Boston, Pittsburgh, or Las Vegas, or opt for fully remote work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s degree, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.

• Strong expertise in Python programming.

• Extensive practical experience with PyTorch.

• Background in optimizing machine learning model performance during both training and inference.

• Solid understanding of fundamental machine learning principles, architectures, and methodologies.

• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
