Loss Analysis Business Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct comprehensive account reconciliations on loans that have completed the default lifecycle, ensuring accuracy from default to the present day.

• Detail outstanding balances and distinguish between non-controllable and controllable losses.

• Examine controllable losses to identify root causes and assess the financial impacts of servicing actions, delays, omissions, errors, and process failures.

• Analyze servicing payment histories, agency claim reimbursements, property preservation and inspection activities, loss mitigation efforts, foreclosure actions, and related documentation.

• Gather data and documentation to create loan files for record retention and audit preparedness.

• Investigate and confirm investor, insurer, agency, regulatory, client, and internal servicing requirements and guidelines.

• Oversee a designated inventory pipeline while achieving SLAs, productivity targets, and KPIs.

• Monitor and document changes in state and federal regulations that influence default processes.

• Perform thorough root cause analyses to differentiate isolated processing issues from systemic problems.

• Prepare analytical reports that document findings and conclusions, substantiated by agency and regulatory references.

• Identify recovery opportunities and escalate significant findings and systemic risks to management.

• Collaborate with business units to communicate insights, formulate corrective measures, and enhance servicing processes.

• Contribute to procedures, reference materials, job aids, and process documentation.

• Assist with audits from investors, agencies, clients, and regulatory bodies, including research, documentation, rebuttals, and responses.

• Review and evaluate reporting outputs, inventory-reporting logic, and strengthened controls.

• Assess vendor-related losses, ascertain third-party responsibilities, and support billback and recovery initiatives.

• Coordinate efforts with internal partners, vendors, and offshore resources.

• Aid in the development of recovery and remediation processes.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in mortgage servicing loss analysis, default claims, loan reconciliation, servicing audit, or a related analytical function.

• Direct experience with FHA servicing, claims, audit, or loss analysis is required.

• Proven experience in performing loan reconciliations and investigating servicing activities to identify and document root causes of controllable losses.

• Experience managing an individual inventory or pipeline while adhering to service-level agreements, productivity expectations, and quality standards.

• Proficient in using MSP, MSP Director, or related ICE Mortgage Technology servicing platforms.

• Strong knowledge of mortgage servicing, default servicing, and claims processes.

• Ability to interpret investor, insurer, agency, regulatory, and internal servicing standards.

• Familiarity with agency platforms such as CMAX, FHA Catalyst, P260, EVARs, Valeri, Prop360, and PAID.

• Excellent analytical and investigative capabilities.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective stakeholder management skills.

• Capability to convey complex issues to various audiences.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

• Competence in prioritizing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and Pivot Tables.

• FHA subject matter expertise is preferred.

• Experience with VA, USDA, GSE, or mortgage insurance claims is preferred.

• Familiarity with Proven Claims Platform is preferred.

• Experience supporting audits from HUD, OCC, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, or other agency/investor audits is preferred.

• Knowledge of agency billings, compensatory fees, or financial remediation efforts is preferred.

• Experience in creating or maintaining policies, procedures, process maps, job aids, or reference materials is preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret SQL logic is preferred.

• Experience testing reporting logic and analytical reporting outputs is preferred.

• Experience collaborating with offshore teams, vendors, or third-party service providers is preferred.

• Experience supporting vendor billback, recovery, or reimbursement efforts is preferred.
