This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Analyze the long-term care policy environment.
• Conduct research and compose a leading policy paper that positions long-term care within ESP's affordability framework, offering actionable policy suggestions.
• Assist in the enhancement of ESP's health care platform by creating policy memos, briefs, and talking points that incorporate long-term care into comprehensive health reform discussions.
• Represent ESP in relevant coalition settings, such as the Affordability Campaigns Collaborative and other key external forums.
• Foster new coalition partnerships.
• Elevate the profile of long-term care in public discourse through op-eds, social media engagement, interviews with journalists, and other outreach efforts.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of a significant convening in the second year featuring long-term care policy experts, health reform advocates, and policymakers.
• Produce a second research output or policy brief aimed at campaign audiences in the second year.
• Provide advisory support to ESP on critical long-term care issues and integrate LTC into the current landscape of economic priorities.
• Reports to Shafeka Hashash, Director of Cash Initiatives.
• Advanced degree or equivalent expertise in a relevant area (e.g., economics, law, sociology, public policy).
• 3-10 years of experience in policy research, analysis, or advocacy, preferably related to health care, long-term care, aging policy, and/or economic security.
• Excellent analytical and writing abilities, with a knack for converting research into clear, compelling content for both policy and public audiences.
• Comfortable engaging directly with coalition partners, advocacy groups, and policymakers.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing a multi-year research project with limited daily supervision, given the part-time nature of the role.
• Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and/or long-term care policy.
