Litigation Consultant – General Liability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage and resolve high-profile cases that involve severe injuries, intricate coverage issues, and legal queries or disputes.

• Formulate strategies to achieve favorable case resolutions.

• Evaluate and act on reports and documentation; address inquiries; seek legal advice and early resolutions; convey outcomes to relevant parties.

• Respond to decisions, agreements, and/or court rulings; develop action plans; assess the need for examinations; obtain client authorization.

• Recognize cases suitable for settlements or redemptions.

• Collect and document supplementary information and collaborate with client representatives.

• Initiate legal or private investigations; assign and collaborate with local counsel; oversee local counsel performance.

• Address requests from plaintiff's counsel, unions, employees, or clients.

• Identify challenges and devise defense strategies.

• Establish or modify accrued liability and approve administrative costs.

• Discover subrogation opportunities and manage the associated process.

• Attend and engage in mediations, trials, arbitrations, or hearings as necessary.

• Collaborate with partners to promote early return-to-work initiatives.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Contribute to the organization's quality assurance programs.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.

• Professional certification relevant to the line of business is preferred.

• Juris Doctorate (JD) is preferred.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in litigation, including five years in claims management, or a comparable combination of education and experience is required.

• Knowledge of licensing/jurisdiction as applicable.

• Strong ability for clear and conceptual thinking.

• Exceptional judgment, problem-solving, analytical skills, and discretion.

• Capacity to manage work-related stress.

• Ability to juggle multiple priorities at once.

• Capability to meet deadlines consistently.

• Proficiency in computer keyboarding.

• Willingness to travel as necessary.
