Customs Trade Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to clients regarding tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, and eligibility for free trade agreements.

• Prepare requests for CBP Binding Rulings.

• Assist with compliance initiatives, including verifications, post-entry amendments, and collaboration with CBP and Partner Government Agencies.

• Develop proposals outlining the scope of work.

• Identify potential risks for clients and opportunities for refunds.

• Aid in coordinating duty drawback processes.

• Assemble customs documentation.

• Oversee post-entry submissions.

• Keep logs for refunds, CBP inquiries, and entry statuses.

• Investigate and address supplemental duty bills and penalties.

• Create reports to facilitate trade operations.

• Develop content for trade-related presentations.

• Engage in team meetings and contribute to process enhancements.

• Act as a subject matter expert, mentor team members, and offer strategic advice to clients.

• Report directly to the Director of US Trade Services.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience within the customs industry.

• Possession of the Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification.

• U.S. Customs Broker License is preferred.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.

• Self-driven with the capacity to meet deadlines and manage substantial workloads.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to represent GHY in a professional manner with clients, colleagues, and CBP.

• Advanced understanding of tariff classification and Explanatory Notes.

• Extensive knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR).

• Proficient in valuation rules and country of origin determinations.

• Expertise in executing customs entries across all modes of transportation.

• Proficiency in ACE functionality and brokerage software.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the complete Microsoft Office Suite.

• Must be willing to travel to the Pembina, ND office for training purposes.

• Availability required Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM CST (40 hours/week).
